ByomeshTripathi博士（医院）与同事对-年间全国住院病例样本数据进行分析，大型队列包括了1,,例在研究期间接受PCI治疗的患者。其中三分之二是男性，88%患者50岁以上。
分析结果显示，周末PCI患者入院率由年的12.4%上升至年的21.5%，相对变化率为82.4%。周末入院患者死亡率高于平日（2.1%vs1.2%，P＜0.）。周末入院率与更长的住院时间具有相关性，周末入院的PCI患者的平均住院时间为4.2天，平时入院PCI患者住院时长为2.9天，P＜0.。
在此大样本中也观察到了护理成本的影响，周末入院的PCI患者平均花费为23,美元，而平日PCI入院患者费用是20,美元，P＜0.。
